Hibler Lake Cabin

We just got back from our long weekend at the Lake Cabin a few days ago, and had another great trip. The weather was great - not too hot, though, so the water was a bit brisk.

Otter Club (evening - usually post dinner, pre-dessert) and Polar Bear Club (morning, usually pre-breakfast) were in effect, although it took the boys a little bit of time to "warm up" to them. Dillon started out by slowly working his way down the boat latter, but by the last afternoon he was fully engaged with jumping off the dock, swimming to the log near the shore, and even walking along the shore edge to get to the neighbor's dock (Jackson did all of these as well, and even got to the point where he did a couple of dives off the dock -- something they both just recently learned how to do at Nana Camp the prior week).

Tyler was a bit more adventurous this year in terms of going on the boat and actually going in the tube for one ride (with very specific rules given to Kelly - 1) don't go fast, 2) don't hit any bumps, and 3) no fast turns) ... he also complained before getting on the boat about not wanting to go fast, but he never had any issues while we were out there. this is a big change from 2010, when he did get upset several times because the boat was going too fast for him :). It was also nice because Tyler generally was able to be a full participant in many of the on-shore kid activities.

Tyler's Music

We are creating a playlist in iTunes for Tyler's favorite songs. It started with Rhinestone Cowboy, which he used to want to play over and over again in the car. He then added "Animal" by Neon Trees ("uh oh, i want some more, uh oh, what are you waiting for?") which is a song that is played on the ipad game "tap tap revenge". Tonight (based on recommendations from his brother J), he's just added We Will Rock You by Queen and Under Pressure by David Bowie. Eclectic tastes...
