FW: garden

A great email exchange between Dillon and Michael as they are preparing the first year of the big garden (the boys already went out last weekend – along with Emma and Audrey – for a two hour prep session). I love Dillon's last sentence!

Dillon,

In doing some more reading, i've learned that the only things we are planting that seem to attract rabbits are green beans, and I have a plan to protect them. Also, it's Henry's job to keep the rabbits away.

We will have a lot of planting to do some time in the second half of may, depending on the weather. Hope for as many warm and sunny days as possible.

I'm looking forward to it, too.

Love, grandpa

I can't wait to plant the seeds! the garden looks great. as for the fence,i don't think that any rabbits could get in. I cant wait 'till we are going to harvest. with some lettuce we could make a pretty good salad. my mouth just drools from thinking about all the carrots and tomatos i will have.

Boys,

Another thing. You might ask your parents about gloves you can use for gardening. And a small, but sturdy trowel for digging holes for planting and other tasks. I have all the other tools we will need.
